Biography of Mrs. Margaret Olufunmilayo Dada Akpokabayen

My name is Mrs Margaret Olufunmilayo Dada Akpokabayen. I was born on the 2nd of June 1951. My father was a policeman, while my mother was a trader.

I was born in Lagos; I attended different primary schools: St Paul Aroloya Lagos, Municipal School Obele Odon Itire Lagos, and Association Primary School Sapele Delta State.

Then I attended my secondary school at Zik Academy Commercial Secondary School, Sapele, Delta State.

I also attended Philips Business College Columbus Georgia USA, where I obtained a Diploma in Business Administration.

I married an Army officer. My husband is late, he died in the year 2001, making it 24 years. I am a widow. I was a contractor with the Nigerian Army, Air Force and Guinness.

I was once a transporter with Government Coastal Agency Apapa Lagos, a clearing and forwarding agent, and a cargo agent at Hajj Camp at the Airport.

I was a hotelier, am into Real Estate, farming, writing, and philanthropy.

I am a minister at the Redeemed Christian Church of God Kings Court Parish, a Deaconess, and a prayer warrior. I was a believer’s class teacher for over 10 years at RCCG King’s Court Parish.

I am a mother of 9 children (5 boys and 4 girls) and 2 stepchildren. I am also a grandmother with 16 grandchildren.

I was a coordinator of RCCG prison and hospital ministry for 4 years. I continue to support inmates at Shagamu and Ijebu Ode prisons. This year alone, I’ve helped release over 60 inmates by paying their fines.

I have a burden for the fatherless, motherless children, orphans and those in the correctional centre ,for Pregnant women and Children , the jobless, those that are afflicted in one way or the other, those seeking for God blessings ,those going through divorce, newly married, married couples, the sick, the homeles, the oppressed, the poor and needy.

Though I was born and raised in Lagos and had all my children there, my roots are in Delta State.

My father is Urhobo from Oguname in Agbarho and Etugbo in Ughelli — both in Ughelli North Local Government of Delta State.

My mother is Itsekiri from Ekurede in Warri South and also Urhobo from Okuodiete in Okpe Local Government, Delta State.

My husband is Urhobo from Aladja in Udu Local Government, Delta State.

I belong to the Urhobo Ladies Association of Lagos, where I served as the second Vice President and later acted as President due to leadership absence.
